My Wyoming Antelope Hunt

Recommended Posts

I just got back from antelope/mule deer hunting in NE Wyoming, in the Newcastle/Osage area. Toughest hunt I have been on yet. We hunted both public, and private ground. We were able to fill 4 deer tags, and 4 of 5 goat tags. We saw very few antelope in Zone 7. We did better than a lot of the other groups we spoke with.

Good luck!

Just got back from the Bill area, did a trespass fee hunt, 4 guys got 14 goats, 3 bucks, mine was a decent one, buddys kid shot a small one and the other guy got a 12in or so. Saw a lot of goats but were on the property next door and the bucks wouldn't hop the fence and mostly does on our side.

We had a group or two the hunted the same ranch earlier in the week so they were a little pressured.

The state ground we hunted was in Region B. Mulie population is far from good there. Saw 3 bucks, and shot each one. If you are planning a hunt for next year, I would recommend a different region. I did a lot of walking, and saw very few deer.

We paid $250 for a ranch that had about 20,000 acres. That ranch fit us the best, we found anything from $50 to 800. We didn't want to be crowded and wanted plenty of room to roam, but she didn't tell us that about half was not antelope country but mule deer hills.

She also let us use her ATV and water hose and a shed to skin in. So it was worth it in that sense she even pulled the truck out of a ravine for us. Roads get slick out there even with a little rain.
