Does bear baiting effect your deer hunting?

Do to the amount of activity and the bait, does it effect your deer hunting in any way?

I mentioned last week that I'd found some bear sign on a 60 acre piece of private land in the no quota zone. It is primarily for deer hunting. Will the be a negative effect on the deer hunting if I try to bait to see if there are bears in the area?

What has your experience been for those who hunt both animals?

deer and bear co-exist naturally and typically bear will den up before rifle season, but may still be looking for food depending on the forage heading into hibernation, bow hunting, obviously bear will be around during september into october some. i believe ive seen trail cam pics of deer in bear bait sites. so i dont think it will effect the deer that much,IMO.

have you tried baiting yet this year?

I wouldn't bait exactly where you deer hunt I baited last year couple hundred yds away from where a nice buck was taken.

Jay, was that you? One of my buddies shot a nice big 8 point not 100yrds from someone elses Bear bait we had found when scouting. Didn't seem to upset that rutting buck as much as an .06 did!

Last year we had a hunter have a 8 pt about 110 incher walk up to the bait lic a log and then walk on under the stand and out on the trail we use to bait. I am not saying they arent cautious but for the most part it dosent seem to bother them to much. We typically have does and fawns come by the bait.

bothers me some. i have done 2 walk in public land hunts only to find on my way back to the truck in the dark that i was set up 30-50 yards from a bait i didnt know existed. was an uneasy walk to the truck to say the least. If I would have known about the baits i would have stayed away and left well enought alone
