Has anyone ever seen bucks making scrapes this early? Found two fresh sc!rapes while doing some stand scouting today. Pretty decent sized with tracks all in it. Kicked up a dandy too! hope he forgets I was there in the next couple weeks.

We have scrapes started in July by bucks in an Island of woods off our field from the crops. We thought the same thing they were from younger bucks. After we setup the cameras we had bachelor groups and older bucks all hitting them. They kept those scrapes open most of Sept and Oct.

Yeah that would be great everything looks a lot bigger in velvet but he was a main frame 10 and LARGE!! Going to put some cameras out one over by the scrapes. This time I will be a lot more careful. I am so pumped for this season. New bow, got my brother hooked last year on bow hunting, lots of land to hunt. Hope to get out with the binos and scope over the next few nights and just watch whats going on maybe get some video.

when i've noticed them early (august), i usually am also getting a high number of bucks on camera and a good percentage of older bucks.

and yeah, if you look hard enough, you could find a scrape almost anytime of the year.

I would hold off on the camera if you want to shoot that deer. You already bumped him and educated him once. Going back and leaving your scent in the area could push him out of the area. By all means setup a camera in there but maybe lets things cool off and hunt the area a couple of times before you setup a camera and start checking it.

Trail cameras are cool but I think people check them too often and educate the deer.
