Deepest water you've caught bass out of

I was out fishing smallies yesterday and marked a school of baitfish with hooks underneath it at the base of a steep break. Threw a carolina rig at the area and pulled up a 3 lb largemouth out of between 27 and 30 feet of water. I've caught plenty of smallies in the 20-25 foot range but never caught a largemouth out of anything deeper than about 18' until yesterday. Yesterday we caught several largemouth out of water between 22 and 30 feet on this lake.

Whats the deepest water you guys have pulled a non suspended largemouth out of here in minnesota while bass fishing. I know they catch them really deep out west. And every now and then walleye guys will bump into them out deep.

I've caught them down in deep depths like that quite a few times. I used to fish Long Lake in Clearwater County and would actually target big bass deep. I had my best luck fishing texas rigged plastic craws down to 35 feet or so. Long Lake is a deep lake without alot of shallow areas, meaning it gets deep real fast. I haven't done it in awhile though because I don't lve near there. I also fish a little lake south of Cass lake now for bass and there have been a couple of times when I have pulled up some big fish out of 30 plus feet of water just sort of drifting out that deep on accident.

SMB in deep water, maybe 30 feet, right next to a super sharp cliff-like dropoff on the shoreline. They were just staged to the side of the cliff.

LMB, never deeper than 15 feet personally, though I know people find them at 20+.

It all depends on the lake. Some lakes have sustainable oxygen levels at greater depths than others. 16+ is about the deepest I have caught a Largie out of. Nothing better than setting the hook on a big girl in deep water.

Good luck out there this weekend everyone. Keep an eye on the Wx Saturday. Storms moving in early afternoon.

This weekend during the Reel Team tournament on Lake Ida, Mike D. and I pulled 3 16-inch fish from 43-feet of water. He found them pre-fishing two days prior, when he was drifting along eating lunch and noticed some big arch's on the bottom in 43 to 47 feet of water. Dropped a jig straight down and popped a nice green fish, dropped it back down and popped a second one. We checked it during the tournament and they were there. Culled three fish and caught 2 others that did not cull. Then the school shut down. I think releasing the 3 cull fish and the two which did not cull anything shut the school down. Could still mark fish, but no takers.
