Twins WIN Tigers Lose

Got sick and tired of reading the other post. Thought I would title a heading that happens a heck of lot more than the other one.
One week ago today the Twins were playing for a tie of first place with the Indians. Now they have the biggest lead on the Central they have had all year. What happenend to the Tribe's offense?? The got outscored 20-5 in 3 games. White Sox fans,,did you really expect anything different from your season?? Thomas,Ordonzez injuries???? Don't want to hear it, good teams find ways to win with or without key injuries. Must be something in the windy city as you seem to take after the southsiders in your tendency to choke. The Twins still have some tough games left, but they have shown the grit to win when the have too. The Twins need to pass Oakland for the 2nd best record in the AL for home field advantage in the playoffs. Only 1GB. Yankees, (who are very beatable this year) A's, Red Sox ANgels or Rangers, the Twins have an excellent chance advancing this year in the playoffs. How about Koskie's recent HR barage??? 5 homers in a week should give him AL player of the week honors.

Ditto on the Koskie comments. When he gets hot, he can easily carry a team, with his bat and glove.

After watching the Twins win another one yesterday, I found the Red Sox/White Sox game and watched long enough to see Doug Mientkiewicz hit a homer, his first since joining Boston. He now has 6 HR and 30 RBI for playing most of the season so far, compared to Morneau's 12 HR and 34 RBI for a partial season.

But watch out....if the Twins happen to meet up with Boston in the playoffs, you can bet that Doug M. will rise to the occasion and be something to be reckoned with, along with Ortiz, who also homered last night.

GO TWINS!!!!!!!!!

Koskie must have been reading the posts in this forum and changed his meds!

He does'nt look like he's going to fall over at the plate now....a little more pee's and vinegar!

As far as D.M. rising to the occassion, I don't expect him to become a devastating
force on the Twins account! Ortiz will do what he does, weither it be the Twins, or someone else.

If these guys had all these hidden talents in the bag, only to be brought out when they thought they had been slighted, the coaches would have recognized it and told them "Hey, this is'nt sand lot, lets get with the program"! They would cut their own throats by holding back and not giving their best.

I think that sending D.M. packing, no matter how good his glove was, lit a fire under the rest of these guys, maybe they thought, "Oh, oh, Gardy and Ryan are'nt playing, I might be next"!

I think Koskie's been working his tail off & been just as frustrated with himself as the fans have been with him. When he finally "snapped" in Cleveland a week ago, he probably just stopped thinking about it so much & trying so hard & just started reacting. Really with most of these guys good enough to get to the majors they have to have the natural "reactionary" abilities to hit those fastballs. It was like he just got mad & said I'm going to hit that stupid ball as far as I can, it's not really all that big...

Kinda like Tiger Woods and the golf ball! I really like seeing Koskie swing the bat the way he is right now...everyone knows he can do it, he certainly has the ability, and for me, thats what makes it such a peezer when he goes into the zombie state.

People would even get tight jaws at Puckett when he was'nt doing his best!

Yeah, in the MLBs the hitters definitely have the skills...the average bat speed in the majors is over 100 mph (the bat's skull speed is measured) which means there's no heater that's unhittable for these guys. At least in theory.

I liked hearing Koskie talk about his hot streak say that it "feels good to earn his money for a change." That's the type of down-to-earth humility that makes fans feel like they connect to these guys. 5 home runs in his last 21 at-bats is impressive, especially during the heat of a pennant race.

Don't you just love it when a "game comes together"? Maroth looks like one of those annoying pitchers that everybody thinks they should be able to clobber, but he keeps them off balance so well, nobody does. Silva did well, a couple big dp pitches to get out of jams. He always gives up lots of hits, I think his pitches are too close to the same speed. I see a change-up in his future.

After this weekend this subject seems like more of a foregone conclusion...

Anybody see the post game interview with Mulholland yesterday? That was funny. He said when Gardy came out he told Gardy "You suck", he wanted to finish the 7th himself. They said, I guess that's the luxury of being about the same age as the manager & basically he said, yeah.

The Twins Sweep the lameless tigers. What happened to that Backerup fellow?? Maybe' he's backing up on prior statments made on here earlier this year... ie, Alan Tammel manager of the year. What a joke. Backerup-- just like the all the teams in the AL Central--- back behind the TWins!!!!!

Mudcutter, I think he drives a semi truck and is on the road quite a bit. He will be the first one to post a Detroit Pistons site I'm certain. I'm actually waiting on BACKHERUP to give his concession/congratulatory speech soon. It would show me that he's a bigger man than most.
