Ok recently my luck hasnt been good in the shallows im catching some size but not numbers as i was in the past couple weeks i know the lakes that i have been fishing on have lots of bass and big ones too....All that said im wondering if you guys have any tips for me in deeper water?I usally throw texas rigs and lipless cranks when i fish out deeper but i hardly get anything lol? Should i be fishing out deeper where i was catching them shallow? What depth is usually a good starting point? What kind of structure should i be looking for? Etc... Anything thing wil help. Thank you

Deep Cranks, Jig Worm, Drop Shot, Carolina Rig, Football Jig and Craw if Sandy to Rocky Bottom.

Fish Deep Weedlines with Cranks, cast parallel to the weedline to keep the bait in the strike zone longer.

Main lake humps and bars in 10 to 25 feet that have hard bottoms are perfect for drop shot.

Lots of guys like to fish rock/gravel/sand in 10 to 20 feet of water in the summer.

Transition areas, like weeds to rock/sand/gravel can be great.

+1

I would concentrate on the edges of weedlines with jig worms, texas rigs and jigs. Some weedlines are 10 feet and others are 18 feet. It all depends on the lake and area. Lately I have been finding good fish deep that are schooled up on weedlines and deep rock. If you catch one, stay put!

Also ensure you are using a weight on the worm depending on how deep you are talking. I find there are different levels of weights needed, of course depending on your stick bait.

I second the comment using shallow crank baits along weed edges. Perfect hiding ground for a forage runby.

Rumriverrat pretty much covered the main points well. I will add to just keep searching and don't give up. This time of year schools can be pretty tight. A marker bouy is a good tool to have if you catch a nice fish and you think there might be a school there.

+ 1 A marker buoy is key sometimes I will have them scattered all over weed line. I will throw a buoy on once spot fish it till the bite slows, move down the weed line do the same thing in another. Sometimes when I come back to the first spot it will replenish itself.

Too funny - I did exactly what you guys said today but read this post just now. Had my best day of the year. Jigworms on the deep edge. We fished real vertical with short casts or even dropping over the side of the boat.

We caught multiple fish or no fish on each spot and our fish were schooled by size today. Started with the 17"s, then the 15-16"s, then the 17-19"s. My best five probably would have weighed 17-18lbs.

Because of the wind we threw out a buoy to mark the spots and it was very helpful as our best spot was not very big and they were tightly schooled.

As stated above, you get one, mark that spot because there will most likely be more. Carefully watching your graph helps a lot too for deep weedline fish.

Have to agree with you on this big time. This year I have been getting into large schools of bass in a very smaller area. Makes me wonder why I did not dig the bouys out years ago. To dumb or stubborn I guess. I throw the marker out the minute I hook into a fish and before I even see it. It is amazing how far you move in a short time.
