Silva's Celebration Toss

Curious as to your thoughts on Silva throwing the ball into the stands after the last out of his 11-hit shutout last night.

Although he was scolded by Gardenhire for the incident, saying it was unprofessional, I liked it, even though it may have been. It adds extra interest and controversy to the game.

He was just showing emotion after tossing his first shutout. The only problem I can see is it may just fire up the opposition for tonight's match-up.

The Twins coaching staff should take of their dresses. Better yet, broom them all. They've been there too long.

Maybe if there was a little more enthusiasm on that team, the fans would get behind it more.

i would have handed the ball to mike sciocia, just kidding, did he need to do it? not really, but he threw his first shut out against world series contender team, they had how many dps last night? Let him have his fun.

Does anyone else get bored of listening to the pale hose backer Ifalls, knocking on our team, who has a payroll smaller then there bullpen. and who is in first?

No homer here, but I agree. We're talking about a team that's 19th in the Big Leagues on the payroll list with 2 AL Central Division Titles on their resume (back-to-back), an amazingly small runs-scored vs. runs-scored-against margin (19 one runs wins which speaks volumes about their coaching), with a better record than the Red Sox and many other "major market" teams.
There's just something about our Twins. They get it done in intangible ways, have an outstanding work ethic, and the best scouting and coaching in the majors.
And IFalls Ron talks about how Gardy should "take off his dress."
IFalls Ron is entitled to his opinion, but I'm sticking up for ma team. Overachievers who now have a leftie on the bump pitching as dominating a brand of baseball since Sandy Koufax left the game. And some serious power at first base. Look out pinstripes, here come the AL Central Champs to storm into the playoffs. And all those pale hoe fans who thought Carl Everett 2.0 was going to be any different than Carl Everett 1.1 need to start watching a real team with some heart.

I didn't think much about it, other than you'd think he'd want the ball himself. I don't think he was taunting them, just happy. I thought I heard the Angels weren't upset about it. Seems like they knew he wasn't trying to show them up, they should have. Heck they had 11 hits, how could he be trying to show them up?

Definitely in agreement on the coaches & scouts doing a great job economically. The boys seem to always get that "lucky" misplay by the other team to take the "gift" win. That's true occasionally, but when they keep taking those, it tells you they consistently put themselves in a position to win if the opportunity's still there late. That's what a good team with some experience does, plain & simple.

I say let the guy have his moment. I don't think he was taunting the other team. Personally I think the Angles walked away shaking their heads because they just lost 10-0, had 4 ding dongs hit on em, and hit into 6 double plays. I'd shake my head too.

On the other hand, it's Gardies job to keep his players in check. So he did what he did cuz it's his job to do it.

I don't think Silva's toss into the stands was that big of a deal either. And I don't think that the Angels cared either. He was just pumped up that he threw a shutout. At least the guy has some heart and shows some emotion and passion for the game.

I liked his reaction, at least we have a guy who is excited about winning and just got his first complete game shutout, and remember, it IS just a game. Who cares if he shows emotion, Gardenhire is a wonderful manager and I understand his perspective on trying to maintain dignity in the clubhouse but jeez, let the guy have his moment. I could see if he did that in an opposing teams stadium it might seem disrespectful, but I did not hear any boo's from our stands!

Ifalls Ron, I like your opinions personally, and everyone elses for that matter, that's what this forum is all about, it wouldn't be as interesting if everyone always agreed and had the same viewpoints on subjects. Don't worry about the people that post negitively about others. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make you wrong!

Peace out
