Tankless water heater recommendations?

I'm looking at replacing my current 40 gal gas heater due to the tank leaking and am seriously looking at a tankless heater.

For those that haveone would you do it again? Can anyone recommend a brand or model that has worked well?

Thanks for any responses

I'm a master plumber for what its worth...

I replaced an electric heater in our new to us house with a eternal brand and have no complaints at all. You need to check you main gas sizing, quite ofter the main will not handle the extra load, most of the tankless are 150,000 - 199,000 BTU, mine is a 145,000, main was OK, can take 3 showers at the same time without wife or daughters complaining. They are $$$$, I have about $2000 in mine and I got the heater for cost. PVC, gas line, separate regulator, ect.

If I had a gas heater to start with, I do not think I would have gone this way. My elec bill went from $150 the first 2 months we lived there to about $80 per month. I can't tell you how much the gas increased, it had to I know, but not $70 per month.

Yeah I would, like above yes the cost up front is abit high. I have a rinnai model fired at 199k btu. Rinnai is the only brand that uses outside air for combustion or that's what I was told! You will not run out of hot water havent had a problem yet in 3 yrs of use! Good luck deciding

I'd think a while before spending the money on a tankless. If you are on low pressure gas, it could get spendy to increase the line size to the heater. How long is this heater going to last compared to a standard 90% efficiency heater? You might be better off replacing it with a heater similar to what you have. Less expense in installing it. Just my two cents.

+1 I have installed them on jobs and every one has been a pain, give me a natural draft heater any day they will run for years with no problems.
