Boars a lymer, hope you guys are double checking for ticks.

Recommended Posts

As you guys are runing around setting out licks an cameras, I hope your duble checking for ticks. Lat sunday, I was in my river bottom doing some trail work. the week before i was doing the same. it always seems i can only find time during the heat of summer. well Last sunday night Into monday morning I came down with a severe headache, cold chills, cold sweat, an it fetl like my nechk was outa alignment, as it dose happen from time to time if i sleep wrong.

So i called into work cause i hadnt slept an need to go to my chiropractor. my regular bone cracker wasnt avaiable, so i went to a new guy. Fine he did the work an i felt better in the neck. i went back to work feeling a little better but really tired, so I went home an went to bed. Later that night, about 8 a switch turned on an i just went down hill. so back to bed again. Tuesday mourn. came an felt pretty good. tues day night went down hill, but not as bad. i was thinking the whole time of heat exhaustion. I really pushed it last sunday. thursday came an the same sh it, but by now my neck an an neck muscles were starting to really get bad, had thought that the new chiro had botched my neck. left work on friday cause I made an appointment with my regular chiro, an he pointed out a red circle about 2 iches across with a bite mark in the center. he said get checked out. i went home an looked at it an thought a zit had festered, looked at sat mourning, an sh it, im going in. Doctor listened to my symtoms then looked at my bite mark an said yep, it looks like you have lymes desiese my freind. took four tubes of blood an will wait for the reuslts. got on antis an last night was the first time i havent felt like i was run over by a truck. feeling better as i type this to.

So boars a lymer, you dont want this sh it. so double check yourselves, an dont right it off as something else. I certainly will from now on not be playing in the woods during high tick season. We have been finding ticks on us in our yard in town which is unusual. I have heard rumors of a vacination for humans, not sure but worth looking into. i ya play in the woods during tick season y dang near have to go over yourself like a gynacologist. Take care boys, an be checking yourself. LymerBoar

Watch your symptoms after you feel better even the slightest flare see the Dr..

Considering the vets claim %45 of all domestic canines are infected in this area what do you suppose the wild critters are going through and the people without health care???

The vet told me about the other 2 types of infections nearly 3 years ago and its only now being disclosed as a risk publicly..

Interesting but sad...................

Absolutely right. I am assuming Boar is somewhat young and normally healthy, but my aunt was rushed to St Marys in Rochester Wednesday morning with Lyme disease. She is 79 years old and this type of thing is very tough on the elderly. She had been on a trip out in the woods a week or so ago in northern MN. Her husband had gotten it about 10 years ago and he also was sick a long time. They didn't find his right away because he was bitten in a very dark "special" spot that never sees the sun, if you know what I mean.

Be careful and check everywhere.

My dad got it 5-6 years ago and he's never been the same sore and tired ache a lot. Legs get weak he was late 50s and very healthy at the time. He was going in for weeks to get treated the first test came back neg they did another test and positive, they gave him some I.v nerve treatments to try to fix but no luck just stopped getting worse and lives with it now. Nothing to mess with I know that...

Yea the doc took four tubes of blood, sent one to his lab an two down to mayo. Gona check for all types of tick borne sh it. i gota two week perscrip. an probably get a two week extension when the results come back. I can deal with the dairy an the antibiotics but its a bummer that the family an i are heading to wisconson dells on wens day for fun in the sun, but i cant be in the sun. So we'll see. This is crazy stuff, no doubt things could be worse, like ya said elderly an those without medical insurance an such.

Boar,

I went through this last fall, recieved my positive results back a day before heading to mexico for a week in the sun. Doc told me, wear sun screen, limit my cocktail intake to a couple.. crazy and just take care of yourself like you normally would and your vacation will be fine. I didn't do anything different then normal, went deep seafishing, just wore light weight, long sleeve shirts, sunglasses, and a hat...no issues for me. About a week into the medication and I felt like a new man, no issues since.

Yep you have Lymes or one of the other tick diseases for sure, the blood tests are not very accurate so even if they come back negative don't trust them. My wife had Ehrlichiosis (tick disease similar to lymes) a few years back - they took several blood tests and they all came back negative, the doc assured us she had it and anti's cleared it up in a couple of days.

I always check yourself extremely well after being out in the woods or even your yard, learn the symptoms and get in if they sound similar to lymes. Also half the time you won't get the tell tale red bullseye so if you don't find one and have the symptoms get in anyway!

Sorry to hear about your trouble Boar. I also want to throw in a plug for spraying down pants, boots, and socks with a peremethrin based spray like Repel. I normally had several tick bites and hundreds if not thousands of ticks on me in a season. I finally wised up and started spraying down before hitting the woods. I was flabbergasted at how effective that spray is, now having a tick on me is an exception not the rule. My cousin was a nay sayer until we walked the same cover and he had 60 some ticks on him and I didn't have a single one.

Yhanks boys, Im making huge improvements as of today, the anti's are really kicking in. Took the day off of work just to sit. I told the pharmacist about our trip an he said that he had skin cancer an that the nuetragena brand from 50 to 100 spf is the best out there so i stocked up, i hate the sun anyway, so dont mind staying outa it. The kicker to me is how long woulda i went on if my chiro hadnt noticed. i was writing it of as a bad case of heat exhaustion. i woulda eventually went in but how many more days would the virus had to grab hold. Sitting under th umbrella an watching the booobies an buts sounds like a fun vacation to me cool Later boar

Tough luck Boar! Those ticks give me the heeby-jeebies. Thankfully, we don't have deer ticks in Nodak...yet. But I'm sure it's just a matter of time until we're inundated, too.

That said, my once-a-year grouse hunting trip to the Iron Range always turns me into a paranoid schizophrenic. I'm constantly checking myself and my dog every time we step back into the truck. Those ticks are nothing to sneeze at. Why the good Lord decided to design such a destructive little critter is beyond my comprehension.

I am out all the time, and it seems I usually end up with a dozen or two of the little deer ticks stuck in me each season. I even had the little red ring on one of the bites, so I went in and the dock told me not to worry. He said to come back if I start feeling the symptoms, and thankfully I never did feel anything, so I have thus far dodged the Lymes bullet!

My coon dog was not so lucky, he had 3 weeks of 3 times a day anti-biotics before he recovered, and now I had him vaccinated for Lymes as well.
