Favorite line?

I really like the 2-10 Power Pro for a lot of my jigging and rigging. You wont find 1 line that does everything well.
Bottom bouncing I like Trilene XT and also on my board rods. Dipseys and Downriggers I like Power Pro. Bobbers I go with Trilene XL or at times Vanish. Winter jigging Power Pro or Fireline with Florocarbon Leader.
Experiment a bit cause everyone has different tastes. I know people who cant stand Fireline. I myself like it but prefer Power Pro at most times.

For trolling cranks I like 20 or 30# Power Pro or Spiderwire. Same set up for 3 way rigging or bottom bouncing.

For live bait rigging I go with Silver thread 8# for the main line and usually 6# Flourocarbon for my leaders. For jigging I like 6# Silver thread or Trilene XL.

The type of line used depends mainly on the application.
If I had to choose one line for everything I think it would have to be 8lb fireline. The only catch is I would not recomend using it for leaders on lindy rigs.
Normally, I have multiple spools ready to go for diferent things, this way I can switch the spools out as I need them or just want to experiment.
Just to list a few pesonal favorites: Sensation (green) for jigging
Fireline for livebait, trolling applications and monofilament for slip bobber setups.

Fireline is great, Triline sensithin (sensation) is my next choice. It is by far the best mono i have tried. I have yet to try any fluorocarbon yet. Not sure if i ever will. I love fireline for walleyes and bass well although i may catch some **** on this forum for that one!

For quite a few years I used Fireline for all those setups. I loved it untill I tried some power pro this season. It seemed to have the same sensitivity without the fraying like fire line. Also the fire line seemed to deteriorate fairly fast if it got a fair amount of sunshine on it while bieng stored(boat lift).

PowerPro is by far the best kind of line I have used.
Jigging I like the 8lb/1lb dia.
Trolling cranks for eyes I like 10/2
Bottom bouncing I prefer 30lb or 20lb
And overall I probably use the 10lb the most for walleye fishing.

I dont use much mono at all. I have a few rods with it on, but I cant stand the stuff after using a superline.
I also have used Fireline, actually I used that before I tried powerpro. Fireline is still some good stuff but not as good as powerpro.

And keep those hooks sharp!

After all tehr great things I have heard about power pro I think I am going to pick some up and give it a whirl.

Does anyone use superlines for slip bobbers? I have never had great success, but I do think it might help with hook sets. Right now I am running into very light biting perch that seem so spit hooks as soon as they feel anything. I have only tried fire line and was not happy with it for bobber fishing.

After years of always starting each new season with fresh line (mono), and then as needed, I'm wondering if I need to do the same with PowerPro? Does it break down like old mono did? It doesn't look any different than when I spooled it in April. Any thought or experiences?

I have used Fireline for more than a season. Never really noticed it to be any weeker. I put it on late in the year and used it in the spring.
My line is not usually on my spools for more than 2 months as I run out of line from break offs and tying knots. If it is spooled on late in the year I would think you could get by using again next year. I have not tried power pro nor have I used the same spool of line for more than a year.

I have had Fireline and Power Pro on reels for well over a year. If I think I need to change it I just unspool it onto a extra spool then its fresh line all over again. I can usually get by with just cutting off about 20' of it. Make sure to put a mono backer on or put a couple layers of electrical tape on your spool for it to grab onto.

pisces

Talked to a guy at Joe's who fishes Power Pro all the time. Said no need to respool each season. Does not break down or dry out or bcome brittle, no memory.

Said if you're really adament about it (bored is what I got out of it), take the PP off and turn it around, so what was primarily backer is now your first 40 or so yards.
