antler carving

I was checking out antler carvings for sale on e b a y a couple weeks ago and found a guy that sells shed antlers with tips carved into morels. I contacted him and found he does custom carving, so I mailed him a chewed antler from last season, and had my own shed find carved. Shipping adds to the expense, he charges $20 to carve this, and shipping cost around $6-7 each way. It took less than 10 days to get back to me.

I had my last name put on the antler, like his auction I saw listed had, but you can put something different on, or nothing at all if you so desire. I don't know if he carves anything else besides morels, but it wouldn't hurt to ask! If you had one badly chewed, where only the base or so was intact, he could carve a single morel out of the main beam, etc, although I don't know what he would charge for smaller or different items. Just thought I'd pass it along as I thought it turned out really well, and turned a chewed up antler into a prime piece of art work!

That is kinda neat. He certainly does a nice job!

I dont like the thought of drilling, cutting, or grinding any of my good sheds... but ive always found those big flying eagles carved out of the moose antlers really neat looking!
