Boat Lift Wheel Knob

Recommended Posts

Need an idea. I can't afford a winch system yet. I bought a cheap knob from an auto parts store. Way too flimsy and cheap. Would never work.

I have a 2007 (?) Hewitt boat lift with the traditional wheel with spokes used for raising and lowering the lift. The spokes on the wheel do not have a hole where I could screw in a spinner knob.

Ideas please.

Don't drill a hole in the wheel. Once water gets in there and it freezes a couple of time you will have splits in the wheel. When it rains water will get inside the wheel again. The next time you go to crank it up guess who gets sprayed with water? YOU.

See if you can find one of these handles that go on steering wheels (think tractor) and bolt it on that way.

Good luck,

Mike

Steering Wheel Spinner - Available at tractor supply.

Or go to a Truck Stop and get a heavy duty one made for semi's instead of a car one. Or the Farm store may have some heavy ones for tractors there wink

Invite a machinist to your cabin for a week and have them winch up the boat a few times. I did this and a few weeks later I received a Knob in the mail. Custom made and it has worked for several years now.
