Just got a 50e as a birthday present and was wondering if anyone else has one and what techniques they think it really excels at.

I have two of them, I'll say ice fishing is where they excel at. After a little bearing flush and removel of unwanted parts, I use them for some finesse shallow cranking and occasionally pitch some 1/4 oz. jigs for walleye and crappie fishing.

I have been using a few of them this season and am really impressed. I would say that you could probably use this reel for just about anything. I am using one for throwing light swim jigs and the other is throwing weightless plastics. They seem to really excel at throwing the light stuff.

yup, as the above poster says, anything really.. I use mine for drop shotting.

I agree with the top two. Its really nice for jerkbaits too.

I have a couple and they are on a jerkbait and a topwater rod.

Thanks for the responses fellas. I was planning on using it on a topwater/jerkbait rod, but I'm also thinking hard about using it on my senko rod instead. One other question, what is the heaviest line you have or would put on it? I like to use 15 lb flouro for my senko rod, do you think the reel can handle line that heavy?

Yeah, it could. I run 12# on mine and Im sure it would have no issues with 15#
