Hanstone counter tops

Wife seems to be winning the battle on the kitchen overhaul. Guess after 27 years of talking about it I can’t feel too bad about giving in. She wanted Cambria countertops but the guy who came to bid the job today was talking about Hanstone by Hanwha. About $1,000 less than the Cambria. Anyone have any experience with the Hanwha products>

Thanks for your time.

Tom

I don't know much about Hanstone counter tops other than they are made from quartz like Cambria (Minnesota) and Silestone (Italy). But Hanwha is a huge Korean chemical company.

If she likes the color and the price point is that much lower then I would say go for it.

I sell a lot of Cambria and have also had hanstone installed on my cabinets with no issues. Just make sure the bid is apples for apples.

The "Engineered Stone" product is actually a lot like "Apples to Apples" but with slightly different colors. Breton, a large manufacturer out of northern Italy holds world wide patents on both the machinery and the process to make the engineered stone products. Cambria, Silestone, Zodiaq, Ceasar Stone and others all use this equipment and process. The only real difference is the colors and maybe some quality control. Cambria spends large $ on marketing to differentiate themselves and that can account for some of the price difference.

The real difference here is the skill and workmanship put into the product by the fabricator. Be sure to get references and check them out carefully before you write that deposit check.

Tom,

We have fabricated and installed both products you are discussing. I would be happy to give you some honest answers on these products. Feel free to shoot me an email to get in contact with each other. summitstonegreg at tds dot net

Hanstone has like 4 or 5 different price groups, and All 83 colors of Cambria are the same price.

Also, all of the edges (7) offered by Cambria are the same price, whereas I doubt you could get an ogee edge on the Hanstone with paying extra so like mentioned before, make sure everything is equal when comparing.

This info is based on where I buy my Cambria at, which is direct from Cambria,, outside fabricators may or may not be priced that way.

With that said, Hanstone has pperformed well in the jobs that I have sold. The decision to go with Hanstone is always budget based.
