Grygla
Anyone been out Bass fishing on Lake Harriet, Calhoun, or Isles this year? I'm thinking about heading out there this weekend.
Jayber
The number one way I rig them is wacky. Have had good success so why fix it if it's not broke. Going to try using an oring on them this year though, to try and make them last a bit longer.

beakgeek
Anyone been out Bass fishing on Lake Harriet, Calhoun, or Isles this year? I'm thinking about heading out there this weekend. I was at Cedar Lake on Monday and it was a zoo. I live right by Harriet and will probably try it out this weekend.
SledNeck
If I fish plastics, a weightless wacky rigged senko is being used 75+% of the time in my boat. From opener to early fall.I get mine from Christophersons in Alexandria. 100 packs are $16.99. Yamamotos are $5.99 for 8 worms.... Never again for me.My tip is to use a 2/0 Kahle style hook. Ive been using 2/0 Kahle hooks on them since day 1.
Gardiner14
Got a nuther dumb question. Do smallmouth like them t-riged? I catch em on a wacky rig but never tried t-rig for smallies.
crawler harness
Yes smallies will take them either way wacky or t rigged, I can't count how many smallies I have caught t rigged. I also get my senkos from Christopherson's in Alex.
Bullwinkled
Just finished another 3 lake day (although two lakes are connected). Biggest fish were wacky rigged. I use Yum "senkos" because they are reasonable and I only use 3 colors. Tried the Suflix line for wacky seemed to work well. Did some pig and jig with my favorite trailers which are the garlic chompers twin tail grub, they are expensive but effective. I use Yum worms again because they are reasonable and Berkley went to a shorter worm which I don't like. Largest bass of day 19 3/4 with another 19 and 18s on down. great day overall. eyeguy 54
Christophersons is where I get mine. couple hundered a year. I like wacky and my buddy likes T style. He boated a 20 7/8 and a 20 today and a 20 5/8 yesturday so I might have to start more T style. (smallies) Plus you can catch many fish on one verses one usually on wacky. lol
hockeybc69
Only time I T rig a senko is in heavy cover.I much prefer having the hook exposed doing wacky, rather than having it buried in the bait while T rigging.
eyeguy 54
Ya, I like having the hook exposed too but I hate seeing the bait fly off when the fish shakes it's head. ;>). Lotta Senkos left behind on the bottom of the river. Another reason why I use tubes a lot.
fishinjosh98
what color senkos are good?
SledNeck
Using o-rings eliminates fish shaking the bait off.
eyeguy 54
I've used rings also. Lotta times the bait just breaks where the hook goes in. These Mississippi River smallies are vicious!

SledNeck
not many people do :>) break in 2 right in the middle. oh. I thought you were saying hook going IN the SENKO (which would defeat the purpose of the o-ring)...Yeah, I have that happen sometimes too, but thats usually after the senko gets soft from being in the water. I have had 100+ smallmouth days in the BWCA and while I havent kept exact counts, I know Ive caught 30 fish on one senko.
bemidjibasser
You can eliminate the breaking by using a wrap of electrical tape and running your hook through the tape and the worm. Action is not hampered by the tape, and the worms last a long time.
Deitz Dittrich
for those that use the 'O' ring trick.. if you put 2 o rings on and have them slightly chris cross.. making an X you can then place the hook in the X and the hook will again be perpendicular to the lure.. plus less a chance to rip through the bait. . Just a thought. I still like shrink tubing better.
eyeguy 54
so much work to use the senko ;>). I just fish the river so tubes are so much easier for me. I use a 2/0 or 3/0 worm hook. I do plan on T rigging for a bit tho to see how it goes with the senkos. Also when fishing the river that exposed hook likes to find stuff on the bottom in the slack water, not an issue much in the fast water.
eyeguy 54
Well I tried a little bigger O ring and no break offs. I was probably using the wrong size. silly me. 9 smallies in 30 minutes for a test and one bait. :>) This size is easy to put on also.
