Opener Reports....

The DNR lives with a tight budget for man hours. Lots of rain so it was a relatively slow traffic day even for an opener.

So today with the sun out it's likely a different story and they will be hitting the lakes in force.

For the first time since I've been fishing, A CO checked our boat for licenses and vests and checked the live well. I fish more days than i don't fish, it's astonishing I've yet to have one actually check that I was valid and our boat was in compliance. Funny thing is as we were fishing a small bay, everyone we talked to said "it was nice to see them out there." I completely agree with that.

This was Yesterday (the 14th) in the am on Green near Chisago. Weather was nasty, cold, windy, rainy... blah. Not too many boats out, but we were definitely not alone where we were tryin to hit em. The low traffic made me a bit surprised I did see the CO checkin folks.

Nobody was at the launches checking that I saw. I would assume today they'd be hittin the launches, as ed mentioned, with the nicer weather.

Morels saturday morning and walleyes saturday night grin Fished with some buds out west. We limited on eaters but no big ones this year. Water 55 degrees. 2-3 feet of water from dusk until 1 a.m. or so. Floating raps and plastics...turned out to be a decent night.

No weeds found on the boat.
