WI Bird

Finally had it happen just right today. First spot there was some gobbling but too far away. But a black bear walked by at 40 yards so that was pretty cool.

Second spot I had not hunted yet this year. I walked up to a food plot clearing, let out some yelps and it was game on. The birds hammered back immediately so I set out a hen decoy and got set up. 2 toms were loud and proud all the way in. 3 hens and a jake came in first with the toms strutting the whole way right behind them. Made for an easy 20 yard shot.

It was a long WI season with few birds seen but this more than made up for the slow times. 20.5 lbs, 9 1/2 beard, 1 1/8 spurs.

Nice bird, impressive spur pic! What latitude were you at when you saw the bear? Just curious...

Thanks guys, I just wish I could have got the kids on some birds this year. I was hunting in Polk county.

Congrats shu I was also hunting this season and called it quits after 2 full days of run and gunning from southern burnett to mid polk counties and only seeing 6 birds.
