Barred owl returns

Some of you might remember last year I put up a barred owl nestbox and one started using it right away for a place to roost during the day. I believe the same owl returned a few weeks ago when I noticed feathers around the entrance hole of the box. I have seen him flying through the woods a few times now at dusk but today is the first time I have been able to get a picture. Its nice to see it back in the area.

I went from one to two barred owls last night and there maybe some youngsters too. The second one came out of the nest box while I was following the first around the woods. Also when the second one flew out of the nest box, I thought I heard owlets screeching, but that could have been my imagination. I am hoping to see a little face peek out of the entrance in the near future. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Sweet! We have barred owls calling every summer at the lake cabin, and have been thinking about putting up a box to bring them closer.

Looks like you'll be getting some nice shots of juvies in the near future. Congrats!

That-A-Way Jason, they got to be the favorite owl in our area. I remember you putting up that nest box. Hope it's chuck full of owlets!
