i like it already. i went last year to the rib contest by the ham lake VFW and some of the guys had the char griller with the box. that's when i got mine. ff was out of the fire box's at the time. stop by at the wing contest and i'm sure someone will have one. otherwise i will let you know soon. i have to do some ribs for some neighbors and a family event this june and my neighbor who will be leaving for the far east in july who is in the military. good luck.

just sampling this time around. i want to know more on what i need and time to plan ect. also want to play with my fire box and get used to temperature control and all that stuff before i enter. did you have an easy time putting the fire box on? havent tried yet but there were no instructions in the box. doesn't look that hard however. good luck.

Actually we had some issues punching out the welded vents and lining them up wth the cooker, nothing a B-F-Hammer couldn't handle. All though it was scary banging like that on brand new piece of equipment. If I rememebr right we did a google search on the installation and that helped as well.

It should be a good time. I don't think it will be as big as our rib cook event, less have signed up and the weather might not help either. There should be plenty of eaters though. I beleive we ordered some where around 6,000 wings. We want to make sure we don't run out right away as that has happened in the past.

I hear you. The first one can be a bit unerving, but they are fun to do. Not so much to win, but the friendly competition, banter, and the good people that partake in the events. You learn new stuff at every one. It's not like I've done very many either. The first one rib contest we entered our ribs were for the most part inedible. hah!

Show up and ask questions, the more the merrier. Like the rib thing serving to public is at 4:00, so around 3:00 things start to get a little hectic.

well i'm going early to see what goes on in one of these contests so i can participate. i think it's a great community event. i think what happens is you stop by each contestants smoker/griller and get a sample of their wings and judge them. i believe you are right on the 4 pm serving time. good luck.

Also - the events we do are not sanctioned by any big associations though the contest rules we have are very similar. They are smaller and I think they are perfect for the amateur looking to get their feet wet in contests. There is always one of us willing to lend a hand, especially for the uninitiated/first timers.
