Fenwick elite tech vs. Fenwick Silverhawk

Does anybody have any experience with the Cabela's exclusive line of Fenwick Silverhawk spinning rods? I see that Cabela's is running a good sale for them and I am in the market for a new spinning rod that won't break the bank. I also found a good deal online for a Fenwick Elite Tech 6'6" ML-Fast for just under $100. What are your thoughts? Will be used mostly for throwing jigs and slip bobber fishing.

If your using it for pitching jigs I'd go a bit longer, especially if your trying to use it for bobber fishing. I like a bobber rod with a minimum of 7ft, and sensitivity really won't matter so you can get by cheap if needed.

I run 8'6 or 9' HMX rods for slipbobbers, for jigs I run a 7'6 Croix Avid. If you can get an Elite for under $100 thats a good price.

Any opinions on these rods at all as far as performance goes. Did some more checking around and found an elite tech 7'2" rod for $87 new. Seems like a real good deal to me and should be fine for jigging which will be its main use.. Was hoping I could hear what others think about the rod before purchasing. Also any thoughts on the fenwick silverhawk would be great too.

The 6'6" rod would be a great rod for jigging but mediocre for slip bobbing. I'd look to a heavier action and longer length rod for slip bobbing. That being said, I have fished a 6'6" ml rod slip bobbering and it can work okay, you just need to make sure to take out all of the slack before setting the hook.

I own an Elite Tech Fenwick, I believe its 6'9" jigging/rigging model. Use it for both and am very impressed with the feel in both the rod tip and handle. Definetly would buy another and am actually thinking about it. For that price I would definetly pull the trigger.

I own a Elite Tech rigging rod (7'2" med, fast) I am pleased with it. I multi-purpose my rods as I still don't have enough for specific uses yet. The ET is actually the best jigging rod I have bought. It is above average for lindy rigging and excellant for spinner rigs. I have not used it yet for slip bobbeering and I have a cheap 7' Avocet rod tht works like a charm for bobbering.

If you can get an Elite Tech for under a $100, I would give it some serious though. It is a excellent rod.

I have the elite tech 7'2" rigging rod. Like it for bobber fishing, rigging and pulling spin ers. Hate it for jigging. The tip feels more like that of an hmg. However for the price I believe it is well worth it. I really wish they would not have done away with the techna avs, by far my favorite. I dread the day it breaks. I broke a techna casting rod last year and couldn't find anything good to replace it with so I got a elite tech Muskie rod still in the box. May have to start chasing them this summer.
