Road Race, Maple Syrup and getting Rooked!

Don't know exactly what was going on here, but had to duck to get out of the way:

This chickaree must have a sweet tooth. He was none too happy to have me interrupt his sappy supper:

And have been keeping an eye on a heron rookery across the lake. As of yesterday there were about 20 herons taking up residence:
