cyeezy
maybe you should try out a cot. think i saw an ad in the paper recently, $30 for one at fleet farm i think it was
pureinsanity
They all leak air, nothing you can do about it. You could try a cot, but then you got pressure poking at your tent floor.
itchmesir
just get a sleep mat.. you'll be surprised how much it helps out.. and then you only got a couple ounces to maybe a pound if you get a self inflating mat.. i got a cheap foam one i bout at FF its only like a 1/4" thick.. but it beats the ground.. and i also have a self inflatable.. which is certainly better than the foam
Redlantern
Nige, what kind of warranty do these beds have that you've bought? If they have one that's good for at least a year, keep the receipt and return it when it fails. Doesn't help you when it fails on a camping trip but at least you can get a new one. I have returned a few airbeds under warranty. Was hoping to get an airbed that I didnt have to return in less than 3 months
jeffreyd
If you are worried about floor issues, put a piece of thin plywood down under the cot to even out the pressure a bit. i also put a heavy tarp down before my tent goes on the ground to help prevent holes and also to help with rolling up when done. i use to use air mattresses but as i get older they seem to get colder and less attractive. nothing worse to be laying there and have it pop or go flat then you are on the ground. MuleShack
We got the 2" inflatable pad from GM a few years ago for tent camping based on reccomendations from this site. It doesn't look like much but it makes a huge difference in sleeping.I use them in the fish house in the winter also by putting them under the cheap cushions which makes for less back aches in the morning. fishinfey8
New cots are awesome! Really comfy, and up off the ground, which can be really nice. A 1ft by 1t rubber fatigue square under each leg if you are really concerned, but I have a tarp on the inside and outside when I camp and find that to be enough to keep the cot from poking holes or doing damage. As far as sleeping mats, I really like my Big Agnes insulated air core. It doubles as a perfect floatable chair thing while swimming too!! Since it's black it will dry in literally no time when sunny out. Packs down very small. Problem is that it's not self-inflatable. An old air batt powered air mattress pump works, as does the good old respiratory system!
