Rippinlip
Since everything is on hold in the NFL, except the draft. Can teams do anything with the Draft Picks? Can they trade them? Sorry if this has been already been discussed.
zamboni
No trades or signing of free agents is allowed during the CBA. The draft will still be as normal, just no trades
Scott K
I think they can trade picks, just not players.
klecker
Yep draft picks can get traded, no players.
CJH
Once the players are drafted, no contract negotiations can occur. This applies to free agent college players as well (undrafted players).
zepman
Sounds to me like alot of agents are going to be playing the role of "banker" until this deal gets done.

CJH
FYI ~ Just a clarification on the trades for/during the draft. Teams can trade spots, but not players. So a team to could trade up to get a specific player, but only if that player hasn't been picked yet. You can't draft a player and trade him for more picks, or trade any existing players for more picks. Also the league has warned teams to trade future pickes (IE next year or the year afters picks) since they don't know how the trial will play out. If the league is ruled to have a moonopoly, the draft could be thrown out and any future draft picks could be lost. It will be interesting to see how this draft plays out.And yes, as mentioned above, the agents are against the rookie salary cap, since it is relatively easy money for them. Vets hold the agents "feet to the fire" a lot more than naive rookies do.

CJH
The first real court case starts tomorrow (Players contesting the lockout). So that will start the ball rolling. Of course whichever side loses will appeal, so who knows..............The NFL draft starts April 28th, which is about the only thing I am looking forward to this off-season, until the get everything figured out.
