Genofish
What are some of the setups people using for differnt presentations. Looking at 3-4 rods/reels to cover various presentationsPlastics/ Jigs / Cranks / SpinnersThanks
TurnUpTheFishing
If I could have just 4 combos for bass they would probably be...7' MH casting rod. Spool with 14-16 lb copoly or fluoro. Probably the most versitale bass combos.7' H casting rod. Spool with 50+ braid line for heavy cover/flipping/froggin. 6'6" MH spin rod. One spool with 20 or 30 lb braid, one with 8-10lb fluoro. 7' M spin rod. 8lb fluoro, mainly for jigworming and dropshotting.Though I would possibly consider dropping the 66mh spin rod and opt for another 7' mh casting rod. Like I said I love the versatility of that setup.
mww24
I pretty much agree with turn up the fishing. Except if your going to fish lots of cranks i would sub the spinning rod out for a glass crank rod in a 7 foot medium heavy model.
RK
Hiya - If it were me: 7'6" flipping stick w/ 40# braid. Can flip/pitch, plus fish football jigs, Carolina Rigs, spoons... 6'10" to 7' MH fast action w/ 17# Copoly or Fluorocarbon - Jigs, Texas rigs, light pitching, big spinnerbaits, and just about anything else. 7' Med-Heavy Mod Fast glass composite crankbait rod and #12 copoly. Cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, bigger jerkbaits, small swimbaits, topwaters... 7' Med power fast action spinning. Two spools, one w/ 8# fluoro, another with 15 or 20# braid. Jigworms, tubes, drop shot, skipping, weightless senkos, topwaters, jerkbaits... You could fish about anywhere in MN with those 4 I think... Kind of begs the question of why I carry 15 rods then, doesn't it? Cheers, Rob Kimm
mww24
yep RK. I only carry 8 rods. only ever use a couple for the majority of a day. Its nice being able to tie up the plan the night before though.
Deitz Dittrich
Only 15 RK? I think I have close to 30 in the boat.. But if I had to do only 4.. I like what RK is thinking.
RK
Only 15 RK? I think I have close to 30 in the boat.. I used to carry more, but have been trying to weed out the uni-tasker rods unless there's no choice. Especially when a rod is set up for something I don't do very often, I try to get by with a multi-purpose rod. Success with this effort has been somewhat uneven however Cheers, RK
mww24
Dietz. does the cat have built in rod tubes? How do you even keep 30 rods in the boat? My rig has built in tubes in both rod lockers. I hate them.

As a matter of fact, at some point in the year, yes. Does the cat have rod tubes.. Yes, on one side. My starting 12 go in that side(thats what I call them), the ones I use the most. The others are in SliX Rod Covers in the other locker.
