Gissert
Should be a decent sap run this week, especially Wednesday. Got a couple dozen taps in today, and will try to get a few more in tomorrow.
themagicbus
i put out a 120 or so taps a year. am curious what the run will be like. i'm in northern itasca county and there's very little frost to speak of. figure it might break and catch me off guard. but i try hard not to get them out before the 1st of april. hate jumping the gun and having to ream holes. where you at?jason
Gissert
Near Fergus Falls. Most of the trees we tap have pretty good sun exposure and will run fairly quick. Anxious to try out the new 2x 4 divided pan evaporator I made out an old fuel oil tank.
mcgarth
yep we are almost done tapping down near Ramsey mn. we put out around 1,000 or so taps. i hope this year isn't like last year by getting to warm to quick. we only made about 35 gallons last year. the year before we made about 115 gallons. i would like to be able to do at least 100 gallons. have fun everyone and don't burn it
Gissert
One of the silvers in my yard started to flow today. That is my baromoter tree, time to go check the sugars I tapped a few days ago. Still snowshoe time in Ottertail county.

Gissert
Just getting toward the end of another 90 gallons or so on my 2 x 4 evaporator. Should yield about 2 gallons or a little more. Good sugar content this year, been getting a sap to syrup ratio of about 35 to 1.
Dark Cloud
Sad to say but I have never been a huge fan of homemade syrup. I'd usually just prefer mass produced store bought stuff... But, this year my sisters boyfriend made some and it was awesome! It is lighter in color and a little more runny than others I have had, plus not as sweet. Rooster Chaser
Just finished 9 gallons off yesterday - most I have made so far. Any predictions on how much longer the sap will flow?
