50inchpig
congrats on the new boat - i've got downeasts on the rails, don't know how you could do any better than those. i've got bases for the scotty style screwed on to the inside of my gunnels up front but i only use those to hold sucker rods, i don't troll musky baits with them.where are you fishing that you're wanting 3 for each side and up front? Esox_Magnum
Down East seem to be the best, several guys I fish around also run Rams without issues. Personaly I love the Rams for eys but leary on them holding several hundred in equipment. Think I'll do both on mine, Down East for skies, Rams for eyes. Don't troll alot anyway. harvey lee
I have 7 Rams in the boat for catfish and sturgeon fishing and never an issue with one of them.
DTro
Since you really don’t need strong holders for Sturgeon, heck I would argue that you need holders at all, I think any old rod holder will work. If the pole isn’t in our hands we just rest it up against the gunwale. It makes for a good angle to watch the tip anyways. Now for trolling or tight line rigging for hard hitting fish it’s tough to beat Driftmaster and Monster holders. Tough as nails and will last a lifetime (no plastic parts).A sturgeon will not hit a bait and rip it from its holder in a split second, other fish will. I’ve seen big Channel cats, steal expensive rigs and break cheap rod holders in a blink of an eye.
