flattop
I have a 2010 Polaris 550XP, and I'm looking to get something to carry my Strikemaster Gas Ice Power Ice Auger on the front rack. Looked at the Kolpin Rhino Grips at Cabela's, and the reviews are not too good on them. If anyone could give a few good products that would work great to carry it. It would really help me!Thanks, Rich
eyehunter
There is a company that makes a pretty sweet auger carrier and I believe that they are also a sponsor to the site. But for the life of me I can't remember the name, come on guys help me out here. I think they are the maker of ice anchors, maybe that's the name, oh just found it it's called digger ice anchor. That is one of the products they make and are out of Minnesota. Google them and find the auger mount on their products page.
Ryan_V
Mad dog makes a great one, the best imo. My auger stays on the wheeler while being trailered up to mille lacs and doesn't move an inch
Alagnak
[PoorWordUsage] near have to take your gloves of to get the velcro through the little slots. The digger anchor design is the fastest and most sturdy I've come across yet. One latch- takes a second.

ducker
+3 for Mad Dog. I have the digger on the back of my snowmobile and it works great there. It seems like it would sit to high on the front rack of the four wheeler. My
LMITOUT
Not the best picture, but it shows how the auger rides on the Mad Dog yoke-type mounts on the front rack. I also leave the auger on the rack when I travel to and from the lake via trailer with a bungie cord around the shaft near the gearbox just to make sure it stays down. There are two yokes to hold the handle and then one on the right side for the auger shaft.
rfish
I got a digger ancher one can't beat it. Its very sturdy and fast to lock on. It has lifetime warranty too.
Rippinlip
Here is a home made one: This way the power head lays flat on the front rack too.
motley man
I built mine from a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and 2 - 2X6 pieces with slots cut to hold auger. Works fine and I just build 1 each year. 6 - 3 inch deck screws hold it together and 2 u-bolts hold it on ATV. All scrap lumber.
Carpenter
Here's what I made for my XP. I previously had the mad dog mounts on my 05 500 sportsman, but the rack on the XP isn't as big.

quackersmacker
I replaced my straps with a pair of straps used on downhill skis. I went to the local ski shop and grabbed the 2" wide straps used to cinch downhill skis together, they work great. Just my 2 cents.
lutzy
I made this and posted pics this fall. I have now used it and it works great. IMO I think it is better than anything on the market. Quick clamping and supports the head great. I must also say most of the ideas were not my idea I just added and improved from stuff I found on here. BriGuy88
Hey Lutzy, where did you find the lock downs you have on your carrier? They'd be a nice upgrade for mine. You do nice work.
lutzy
Hey Lutzy, where did you find the lock downs you have on your carrier? They'd be a nice upgrade for mine. You do nice work. I got these at 7 corners in St Paul. They are all over the internet but they are kind of expensive. These were $9 apiece. They come with a part that is designed to PUSH down. I then had to take a close line hook from HD and bend the hook out slightly, then bolt them on so they PULL down. Then dip them in plasti dip to give them a rubbery coating so as not to scratch the auger. With these the auger is going nowhere.
