Photo scanners

I have a lots of photos I would like to scan and I'm looking for a good scanner that will give me good quality scans without breaking the bank. Any recommendations?

What OS are you using?

If it is XP or earlier I have a HP scanner that is great but does not work with Vista or 7 that I would be willing to give you.

Any reasonably priced scanner will get you the results you need. I prefer HP stuff and have recently acquired an all in one with wireless and it was pretty reasonable. You can get a good scanner for $50 to $100 dollars.

When I switched to XP my AGFA scanner wouldn't work. If Wish-I-Was-Fishin can't use it I could.

I use an epson 5160? not sure model. But it works great. I can also scan negatives and get great results. Not sure if thats scanner or software that allows it. I have had it for about 3 years. Paid $145 new.

I currently own a Microtek ScanMaker 4900. When I scan photos I don't get a very good image. Almost looks like there is dust on the underside of the glass. I should tear it apart and see if it just needs cleaning before I try another unit.

I just bought a new photo- scanner, I researched them on line and read the reviews, ratings and prices, and then decided on the Epson V600 photo scanner. Scanned a lot of old slides and photos and it, so far, has worked great.

If wish doesn't want it it is up for grabs. I also have a Color Laser that has a paper pick up problem (maybe just dirty) that I want to get rid of as well.

My folks picked up a HP photosmart premium all in one printer scanner and I'm quite impressed with it overall, very easy to use. We did use it to copy a color photo and the result was pretty close. I'm thinking a good dedicated photo scanner would do a better job but for most people it would be just fine.

By the way, wally world will scan photos or slides and put them on a dvd for 46 cents per picture (min. 50)

I thought sams did too, but can't find it on web site.
