Navionics Phone App is Networked !!! ???

OK so I went out browsing a certain bay on Milac's and I see a bunch of push pin icons on my overlay map... a few green pins with pluses on the top (obviously to tap for info) and a few red icons that look like fish in a red box.

I tap on the icons.... and I see descriptions: rock pile, walleye caught here, etc.

Go into the info deeper and I get the GPS coordinates, and the guy’s name that posted the info etc.

For reference I have a Motorola Droid not hacked, with the latest software rev.

I guess I would be a bit careful of what you post on the app.

He obviously just went into the "add an object" area to his map and was going to mark his spots etc.

Maybe did not realize its posted to ALL?

OR is there an option to broadcast the info?

I have not used that feature yet any ideas..?

I do have his coordinates now though !!! grin

shhhh!

LOL grin

Yes, when you place any object other than a favorite it is indeed shared to everyone.

Believe it or not, it does come in handy. I was chatting the other day with a friend and we were describing spots to fish, doing a little prefishing if you will. And instead of trying to describe the spot, we would just place an oject and move it around as we were talking. Pretty darn cool anyways.

But yeah if you don't want it shared, just use the "favorites" option, this is only stored locally.

Oh, I've also been putting out "decoy" fish spots from time to time, so don't assume they are all good spots. LOL

Good to know, DTRO.

Gotta love the classic misdirection!!!! I want to fish the south part of the lake, so I will put a "hot bite" marker on the north end of the lake........

Good question.

I would assume since any user can move it (tested that already) any user can delete it as well.

Seems like some sort of better system could be used there. Kind of cheesy.

I'd like to see a "local only" option for placed objects.

I was laughing my butt off when I was looking at a lake I fish a fair amount and I see all these fish icons all over. So I clicked on them and found out the guy caught perch and walleyes at 1PM. LOL

I make sure I use the Favorites so none of my stuff is shared, but is sure nice of those to share with everyone. LOL

I shouldnt confess to this, because it was kind of a jerk think to do, but I found a spot marked on another lake and I moved it about 1/4 mile away. I thought it was hilarious.

Obviously I wouldnt have done this if it was marking thin ice or something like that, but I got a kick out of it.

I can see it now, more people will figure this out and just post dummy spots and fill up the lake with these dang things. It could get annoying.

Ya it seems we are still not a one unit technology... i.e. phone, GPS, web browser, etc... close but looks like there is still a few bugs to work out.

Hopefully when they do get to that level one company will be bold enough to come out with a Sportsman's model in mind... a phone with a truer GPS, satellite phone option, water proof and floats, better video \ camera.

Its good to dream!

Well I went in to the app and dug deeper.

On the Droid when you add an object it warns you its going to post it to the Community.

IF you go to Favorites and add it ... its only for you.

So great for people who use favorites only!!! and to be able to get other peoples info that use the community post.

NOW the decoy idea was great! Time to start throwing them all over the place!

I only use favorites, but I noticed my push pins are gone from Mille Lacs, I dont remember deleting them and they were only Favorites. Strange.

It must take time to get saved and published on Nav's server... I don't see it either.

What is was referring to being north is the bay north of Vineland by my buddies cabin is where I saw the first posted markers... now everyone knows the spot there... lol.

I never saw your post marker on vineland...

How long until you cant see anymore contours because there are so many posts out there... good and bad. GIANT Walleye HERE! Best Perch spot ever.

I'm wondering how well Navionics thought all this out?

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
