Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem i've been having. My h2o color gps will not "find" me while iam in my fishhouse. Same for when iam in my house. It will find me sometimes when i leave it outside for 5-10 minutes. We were fishing in a pullover clam so the fabric should not have interfered. iam only missing some of my satellites so i dont't know. Just wondering. Thanks

Heard this a lot lately...something to do with the internal antenna broke off or something along them lines. Buddy's just did it. Mine is 1 yr old and no problems yet. I bought the extended warranty. Someone said it is more to fix than to buy a new unit, can't get the H2O anymore but still more to replace with something comparable.

If it is under warranty I would get her in quick.

Hate to say it if the above posts are correct but maybe get an iPhone, Droid, etc. instead. I know you dropped some coin on your unit but my buddy paid $10 for an app on his iPhone that has fantastic lake contour maps. I was thinking of getting a GPS until I saw it on his phone. I have not had to pay for a cell phone for 10 years thanks to my employer but I am thinking of it now after watching him use his. Their is a good thread started on this already you may want to look at. If I had to guess what you are having an issue with now I think the antenna thing sounds about right. I would make a call to the manufacturer or return it if it is still in warranty.

Inside a portable your surround by a metal frame, that works against you. Damp or frost covered canvas also will make this shielding effect worse.

So you may be shielded from a few satellites, causing poor performance.

Test this by going outside in the open view of the sky, then see how many satellites you pick up.

If it has a lot of difficulty locking in, turn the WAAS off, this will lessen accuracy, but increase dependability in poor satellite coverage situations such as this.

(If you have not done the last update for the H2O, do it. It has a few fix's in it that may also help you out with this issue.)

Nice. Called lowrance this morning. they told me to put new batteries in the unit and leave it outside for 6 hrs. brought it in, put new batteries in it and son of a gun it still wont work. called them back and the said my satellite reader as well as my internal processer are not working. They said i could sent it to them to get fixed for $149.95 + $12 for s+h. I told the lady i could get a new one for $40 dollars more and she agreed. Called my buddy to vent. he was not very happy also cause his h20 was not working eather. he called lowrance too cause his unit wouldn't read his lakemaster chip. They informed him his cardreader is out and it will cost him $162 to get it fixed! oh well what do you do. So if your h20 isnt working right you can hop on the THIS SUCKS boat with my buddy and i.

Many people have experienced the same issues you are dealing with. Something inside the unit just dies. Capacitor, solder connection, chip, who knows. My cousins died the same way a few years back, as well as many others that I have seen on this site. I believe Lowrance should do something better than asking you to pay $149 plus shipping to fix it since they seem to be dropping like flies and it's not just an isolated incident. But, that's just my opinion. If this had been happening right away with these units, then maybe they would have solved the issue at the assembly line, but it's too late now.

I myself never experienced the issue with my B/W H20 and sold it to buy a Garmin Oregon. I will never go back.

This seems to be the fate of the H20c units (as well as the Expedition/Hunt/etc). I bought one brand new in the package off of the Bay, and it didn't work, wouldn't lock on to satellites. Tried hard and soft resets, everything. Lowrance was totally unreceptive to me - would fix it for $160. [PoorWordUsage]. I switched to Garmin (Colorado 400t). LOVE the Garmin - Lowrance has really really dropped the ball on their GPS units and customer service. I won't buy another Lowrance product. I've heard/read this same story over and over and over. It's not an isolated problem - it's very widespread.

An external antenna seems to fix this in most cases. Cheap fix until you upgrade.

I have always wondered if an external would work. Dont take this the wrong way, but have you actually seen or tried an external on a broken unit, or are you guessing it might work?

Years ago I bought one off a auction site, they were going for $20. All had a similar issue, needed an ex antenna to pick up sat. Worked well. From what I read the internal antenna wire gets knocked loose. Op could have the same problem or not. The antenna is nice to have now. Throw it in the dash and it works way better on my new gps.

I have heard that the new Endura series aren't much better. Hopefully my H20 holds out. I will be copying my waypoints down on paper! Only reason I even have one is because the lakemaster chips weren't available for garmin at the time. Lowrance should be fixing these for free now that would be customer service and retain customers for life.

there's a post complaining about a $4 propane tank in which the store owner who sold the defective tank he didn't manufacture is getting drug through the mud, while this post had drawn less commentary. Doesn't make much sense to me why a $250 product with issues isn't drawing the same attention.

I guess i can just hope my unit keeps working and avoid this customer service problem.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
