I have enjoyed the usage of my H2O but it is now time to replce it. What are you using as a replacement that will be used primarily for ice fishing. I have the lakemaster chip that will also be replaced due to age but I did like the features.

Thanks for the input.

I have had no issues with it. I use it for a lot of stuff too. I have gone hunting with it, geocaching, ice fishing and open water fishing, hiking, and for driving. Some people may say the screen is too dark, but I find it very readable. It finds the satellites very fast, the menu system is very easy to learn ( a lot easier than the H2Oc ), and I like the touch screen. For those who may not like the touch screen the 62 or 78 series Garmin would be nice.

Can you use the Lakemaster & Navionics SD cards from your Lowrance H2O/Explorer with the Garmin's? Also, can you transfer your way points and trails?

Biggest frustration I have with the Lowarance hand helds is that you can't zoom in as close with the Navionics chip compared to lakemaster. Does anyone know if this is the same problem with the Garmin's?

Thanks!

Just an idea...

if you have a phone with gps you can get the navionics app for $10. 1 foot contours. I have not compared it to my new Lowrance endura yet for accuracy.

I wish i new about that app before I bought the GPS and lakemaster. My iphone screen seems bigger and you see more contours when zoomed out vs the Lowrance with lake master.

but for ice fishing it it impossible to work an iphone with gloves!!!

NCLaker - you cannot use Navionics cards in Garmin units, Garmin does not support the Navionics data. And you cannot use Lowrance cards in Garmin --- it needs to be a Garmin card in the Garmin format, even though it is still using LakeMaster data.

I have the Garmin 78s and love it. A great feature is the ability to overlay other maps onto it. ND and CD both have all of their public land set up so you can do it. I haven't come close to using all the features but from what I've seen it is the cutting edge on advanced features. In the past I've bought units that have been out for a couple of years and this time I am really glad that I have something that's out front on new features. I bought the Lakemaster CD for it and it allows me to download some smaller areas and so it's quicker. Check it out.

Perch Jerker- so how do you get the maps on it? Do you use the usb and download it on, or does Garmin just have there seperate cards?

Both --- you can get a Garmin LakeMaster card, which will work in Garmin units and only in Garmin units --- or you can get a LakeMaster CD like Tom did and download the maps you want from your computer to your GPS.

I have a Colorado 400T - this GPS is identical to the Oregon, but the Oregon has a touch screen, the Colorado has a 'rock-n-reel' (no, not T-Bone's rock-n-reel!) Had an H20 before this, an old one. This GPS is my first mapping unit. I've used buddy's H2OC's and Expeditions before - the garmin absolutely ROCKS compared to them. Another buddy bought the new Endura - it's honestly, well, a piece of junk. Definitely a step backwards for them.

Anyways - the Colorado and Oregon both support custom maps - in other words, I can scan in a contour map of a lake, bring it into Google Earth, georeference it there, and upload it to my Colorado. This is awesome for lakes that aren't on the Lakemaster chip yet. Also can download satellite imagery directly onto the unit, and if you are technically saavy enough, you can make other custom maps. It came pre-loaded with the US Topo in 100k scale. The Oregon is identical to the Colorado. They don't make the Colorado anymore, but I searched one out on 'the bay' for $199 brand new, as I didn't want the touch screen, I prefer buttons and knobs :-)

Seriously - go with a Garmin, they are easily the best unit on the market.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
