Fill up the truck. For that price you cant lose.

I have a half dozen of them.

Same here, for the price you can't beat em! Easy to assemble and cheap! Just don't buy Menard ground blinds. I bought one and am totally Unsatisfied with it!!!!

I have one of the 2-man ladders from menards. I like it a lot. the platform is nice and big (mostly wide). It has a bar in front that can be rotated to the back for bowhunting. I've never heard a single squeak out of that stand. The seat isn't real thick though. I sit on an extra little foam pad. Paid about $80 for it.

On a similar note, what cheap hanging stands are worth looking into? I have a couple OLD Gorillas and need to add some more to the fleet, looking for larger platforms as well.

I'll give you my honest opinion. Look to the same store. Im not sure the model it is but they have one with a sling style seat with arm rests on the side and foot rest with pad that I bought last year for like $50-60 and i love it!!!! For an all day sit its been great for me. Its not the lightest stand in the world but I hang most of my stands before season and they stays out till its over.

Now if size and comfort for a long sit isnt a problem the 'tomcat right at $30 sometimes cheaper" again at the same store has been a winner for me. easy to hang but it does have a little platform and not the softest cushion. I know alot on here will argue with me on my opinion. But I can afford to buy alot of them and put them all over my lands I hunt and not worry about them being stoling . Price is important to me, just remember to use a harness as well.

I didn't pick up the "cheap" one but I did get my first one person ladder today. I got the one with arm rests, shooting rail and a bigger platform. I used to think ladder stands were not practical for bow hunting but after sitting in a crooked birch tree this fall, staring a much better location with an even more crooked tree, I suddenly thought a ladder would be perfect. Now I think I might just get a couple more.

We've used ladders for Bow hunting for a few years now. They lock up nice and tight on the tree and give a sturdy platform to move around on when shooting around the tree. Plus got tried of hanging off pegs trying to put up my lock-on and ripping jackets snagging them on pegs on the way down! Nothing like hanging in the dark by a coat button or pocket until it breaks and drops you down a few feet! crylaugh

I have a couple of the older ones, so the width isn't a problem. I did have trouble with the distance from the seat to the platform.( it was to short even for me!) so i redrilled and moved the platforms down a few inches. Now i can go from a sitting position to standing with very little movement.

I may have to add a few. I wouldn't worry too much about safety if you add a decent ratchet strap versus the rope they advertise. You also have to consider how you'll be hunting. I mostly hunt for a few hours before sundown or those first few hours of daylight given work and family. So if they're not the most comfortable thing in the world, not a huge factor. I'm more alert anyway if I'm not so comfy. I'd imagine that they're pretty light too given their compact size, another positive in moving them around by yourself.

Actually, the cheap Menard's ones we're talking about are VERY heavy. I bought one the other day. Don't plan on moving it much once you've got it set up.

I'd be surprised if there are any left anyway. Just one left in Stillwater last Thur when I was there.

Good to know. We'll see if any exist when I make it out there this week. Just got the crazy days or whatever they call it sales ad in the weekly shopper today. That doesnt usually come out in the daily paper til later in the week. So hopefully they're stocked up with some of them. If not, it wasnt meant to be!

Kind of on a side note. For those of you that have ladder stands and have to put them up yourself much of the time. The wheel brackets that Cabelas sell that mount on the ladder and then you can pull them, are GREAT!! I've had mine for four years, and wouldn't be with out them.( i do have access to a deer cart[that a group of us share] but feel these are easier for moving ladders.

I went in to buy one of the ladder stands and opted to skip it in favor of a hang on portable they had next to it. It was $10 more I think and had a 30"x36" platform, which is HUGE compared to what I'm used to. I've been looking for a cheap portable with a larger platform, and there she was. So, just a heads up for those who prefer hanging portable over ladder stands, they've got decent deals on them as well. They also had some smaller $30 hang on stands too, but I'm not impressed with the platforms on them at all.

Dick's usually has some good deals on ladder stands, especially after the season. The basic ones are 50-60 bucks and ones with larger platforms, arm rests and a movable rail running 70 or so. I got mine for practicing on tree stand angles but used it for hunting this year. Not bad to hunt out of for a fixed position stand but I really prefer the flexibility of a climber whenever possible.
