On-board charger recommendations

Fathom

Question

Looking for a good two bank charger to give my dad for a xmas gift. Any suggestions?

He usually has a good 12 hours between trips so I don't think he needs anything too expensive. Just something to make it easier to charge the batteries in his boat. Usually has two batteris hooked up with a third one he rotates in if he needs it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Dual Pro +1

My first 2-bank charger was purchased in 1995 and is still running fine. I added a single bank for the starting battery 2 years ago and no problems. Keep in mind where he will mount it. Dual Pros have no mounting restrictions and only get warm to touch, not hot.

I'd also agree with Dual Pro first and Minn Kota second. Both are great chargers but Dual Pro is what I have in my own boat.

If he has 12 hours between uses, you could go with a 6 amp charger and save yourself some money. 10 amp chargers are the most popular and will obviously be quicker than a 6 amp charger, although as I said I think 6 amps will be more than sufficient (especially if he doesn't drain his batteries all the way down before recharging).
