New spinning reels?

Superduty

Recommended Posts

I own the energy, the stradic, and some pfluegers. By far the most consistent performer, whether its the drag, the smoothness, or line pick up, has been the stradic. With the new beveled edge on the spool you get added casting distance, and with with one piece line pick up line twist is reduced tenfold. Don't get me wrong, I love my energy, its durable and has a great drag, but it gets heavy with a full day on the water.

Lakeside, Amen about the weight of the energy. Mine have performed well for quite a few years but the time has come to replace them. I have a wrist injury and the extra weight takes its toll more than it used to. I ended up getting a few pflueger supremes and the weight difference compared to the energy is night and day. Hope the durability is there! Added a couple of the daiwa/cabelas prodigy because of some advice here and I couldn't resist at $59 for what looks like a great reel.

I helped Superduty prefish a tournament at the end of April last year and I used the energy reels. We fished hard for a day and half and I had some soreness in the wrists after. They are heavy.

I think I made more casts in a day and half than I usually do in a month.

I am glad he has decided to get new reels, because the Energys will be mine, when I get around to picking them up.

They are quantum size E30. Definitely bigger than what the walleye guys use but not as big as a 4000 size shimano. I actually really like the Quantum pt series spinning reels. No bail spring to fail. It's magnetic. They are a heavier reel than what is available in today's newer reels. I'm having tendinitis surgery from a work injury and figured I would look at lighter options for my new reels.
