Fall Trip, New Personal Best

We originally had a day planned to fish with Jason Hammernick back in Sept but he called a few days before and told us that he wanted to put us on fish and it was slow so he advised we move our trip. So we decided to move it to Oct 24. And glad we did! The conditions were rough 45 degrees, 20 mph wind and it rained all day with some down pours but we knew that it was big fish conditions so we were going to stick it out no matter what. Right away in the morning we landed this 52.75x26,

Not a bad way to start.. Then after Lunch on a spot that we have never even thought about fishing. We raised a state record fish and she went around on the 8 about five times and almost ate! She made my fish look small!!! I would say all of 55-57 and FAT.

Then we closed out the day with a super fat 44, and I'll never forget what Hammernick said... while I was thinking hey that's a pretty nice fish, Hammernick yells, jeez, what are you doing out here little guy, you are going to get eaten! Awesome.. Hammernick put us on some HUGE fish!!!

John, she is a girthy brute! I was out there all day with Jason and John getting beat up, and it was all worth it to see John with that fish! Jason runs a great experience on the water and definately is on the fish!

That fish is going to be the state record next year, of course I released her. (and I'm for 100% release) If she pounds the Ciscos for another year she will be 54x29 next fall! She has some monster shoulders and I hope will grow into them. Everything on her was thick, when I put my hand in her gill plate, I had to pull it back out because it was so thick and I couldn't believe it.

I put my order in with Lax this morning. He will have it done by the Muskie Show in St. Paul so I can pick it up.
