Chris Cook Tears Other Knee

Chris Cook's rookie season continues to be adversely impacted by injury problems.

Cook, who tore the meniscus in his right knee and missed the first two games of the season, has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to NFL sources.

It's not clear when the latest injury occurred, but Cook won't play Monday night against the New York Jets and is expected to miss a few weeks.

Cook played in the Vikings' 24-10 victory over Detroit in Week 3 and was credited with six tackles and one pass breakup. He was used in the nickel defense, playing the left corner when the Vikings went to five defensive backs. Veteran Antoine Winfield would then shift inside.

Cook is the Vikings' biggest corner at 6-2, 212 pounds, meaning he has the physical ability to play press coverage and is effective in man-to-man situations. His return against the Lions, along with the return of veteran right corner Cedric Griffin, gave the Vikings secondary a boost.

Griffin had been out since suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the NFC Championship Game last January.

Winfield and Griffin are expected to start at the left and right corners, respectively, on Monday night, but it's not certain who will be used in the nickel. That job could fall to either Asher Allen or Lito Sheppard, who saw extensive duty in the first two games this year.

Safe to say the Packers and the Vikings have both had their fair share of injury's. Now Favre has additional problems. frown

There is growing concern about Brett Favre's throwing elbow.

After taking part in all of practice Thursday, the quarterback was limited Friday because of tendinitis in the elbow that has been troubling him in recent weeks and doesn't seem to be improving.

Favre, who will turn 41 on Sunday, wore a large bag of ice on his right arm Thursday as he addressed the media. On Friday, he was wearing a wrap or protective sleeve on the arm.

Favre has been listed on the Vikings' injury report all season because of soreness in his left ankle, which he had surgery on last spring. The elbow injury was added leading up to the Vikings' victory over Detroit on Sept. 26, and Favre was limited in the Thursday and Friday sessions that week.

The Vikings will practice again Saturday and then list Favre as either probable, questionable, doubtful or out for Monday night's game against the Jets. It's fully expected that Favre will play, increasing his NFL regular-season record for consecutive starts to 289.

Favre attempted to downplay concern about the elbow on Thursday saying: "I've probably iced more in the last three weeks than I have in my whole career. I don't want to say I'm getting overly mental, but I want to be crisp."

Favre added that he did not want to miss practice time because he needed the work with his wide receivers, including newcomer Randy Moss.

quote=fishersofmenWho would be the starting QB?? grin

Think we all know the answer to that one at this point. blush /quote

T-Jack grin

Or Matt Flynn. The QB starters for both teams are hurt, and even if Favre isn't "officially" hurt, he will be soon......that or suspended. whistle

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
