Bass Right Now...Still Shallow, top water still valid?

OK Guys...is this still topwater time?

We are looking at our first frost around metro, and I wanted to see if it is still woth pitching topwaters and buss bait.

Or, are we looking at deeper fish?

Well, the state record bass was caught around this time of year or later on a buzzbait. That should answer your question!

They are shallow, I caught 6 bass today that weighed 29.26lbs on jigs fished in less then 3ft all day, partner and I caught close to 40 fish in 7 hours

I just came back from brainerd and didn't use much for topwaters, but I did get some bass and pike on spinnerbaits in the shallows.

Went out last night and fished largemouth. Got our biggest (weight wise) of the year in less than 2 feet of water off a dock. Fish was just under 21 and was an absolute pig. Scale was broken but i would definitely put it in the 6.5 range. Got one other nice one off a dock.

Best bite was on an inside cabbage weedline. Ended up with 20 or so there in a couple hours. Biggest off the inside weedline was a thick 19 incher. The rest were mostly in the 16-17 inch range. Also got two 27" walleyes off the same inside weedline as it got dark out. We didn't get anything on horizontal stuff. Threw spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swimjigs to no avail. Everything came off of soft plastics.

Kt, did you get a pic of that piggie? Good to hear they are still holding to some docks. I'm heading to a lake this weekend where I usually smash them on docks but I wasn't sure they would still be there.

I caught alot of fish on docks acouple days ago. Nothing over 3.5lbs but alot of numbers. The fish were holding to shallow docks with alot of vegetation underneath. Good luck.

Last week I was about an hour and a half north of the cities, fished all day for pike and caught nada. I did throw a pretty big floating lure that imitates a LMB, and I had a slightly larger actual bass blow up on it. Both the lure and fish flew in the air and couldn't tell which was which (lol), didn't hook anything though.

I later caught some bass shallow on senkos.

In summation: They're in shallow, I had one blow-up, all I saw/caught were under 2lbs, I'd say topwaters are still valid but I wouldn't go big next time.
