pureinsanity
I agree with you on your two shell statement. About the only time I leave the magazine loaded is if we are transferring spots that is literally just down the road. If we are travel for miles, or road hunting I do the two shell method otherwise. Acemac
I also am heading to SD in the end of nov. Do I need to get the dog a vac. for snakes?
rundrave
no vac needed for snakes unless your hunting out at the national grasslands by pierre. even then though it will be too cold and the odds of running into a snake would be slim. pureinsanity
Only think you should worry about is skunks
sdpikehntr
The end of Nov?? you won't have to worry about snakes or skunks. The snakes will be denned and the skunks will be in hibernation. The only concern you will have will be other hunters, both deer and pheasant.
gr8icefishinmind
Oh.......and if you hunt in clark county, make sure to go to the HENRY STEAKHOUSE, their prime rib is to die for!! Also their buscuits and gravy for breakfast is amazing!!

Acemac
so basicaly if i throw a Blaze hat in the truck im covered. why are minnesotas hunting regs so strict?
goblueM
there's a lot less people out in South Dakota, and a lot more land to hunt, which in part explains why there are less strict hunter orange requirements
pureinsanity
so basicaly if i throw a Blaze hat in the truck im covered. why are minnesota's hunting regs so strict? A lot of the good areas of hunting are int he metro. Over Crowded and over populated with hunters. To many people get hurt out there or even killed. South Dakota has their share of hunters, but also its not as concentrated as it is in Minnesota. I am fine with the orange requirements here. Id rather see you from a mile away than 100 yards away. pureinsanity
naw people in south dakota must just look at stuff before they shoot.... (wink) If that's the case we have problems. All the locals are color blind, I see them shoot hens all the time.
sdpikehntr
For the most part, deer hunters are watching pheasant hunters close, not for why you would think. They are watching them because they are great deer drivers! So it makes a good fit most of the time. A good orange hat and vest works just fine, that will stand out with no problem in the brown CRP & grasses.Good luck to all hunting this weekend in SD, and please be safe. Just remember, its only a "bird" and there are plenty of them, don't take the shot unless its a good one; because there will be more just around the corner.
