Retrieving rod and reel

That sounds like a good idea. Thanks

I did drag a weighted treble hook for about two hours with no luck.

The rod was knocked off the boat when putting the ski tube in the water so I know right where its at. The swim jig was still latched on the lurer stay so hopefully nothing can drag it away...although I worry about the scent of the outcast grub.

A couple of years ago a buddy of mine dropped his new rod/reel out the back of my boat. He didn't jump in and get grab it because he thought the cork would make it float! hehe. Well anyway it sunk. I quickly marked a way point on my gps to get the general location. It was on a drop off between 6 and 11FOW.

We came back the next day with marker bouys, goggles, and flippers. We marked off a square area using the bouys and the boat with the GPS waypoint in the middle. Then three of us jumped in and started skimming the bottom. It was murky but we could see about one or two feet in front of us.

We found a junk old rod and we finally found his rod too. I had a ~15lb carp swim right in front of me, scared the heck out of me.

Bottom line is we were willing to do anything for 20 bucks and that case of beer! It worked but took A-LOT of effort! Next time its gotta be at least 2 cases.
