Actually Zepman, I totally agree with your statement about pitchers going the distance. To me the difference is dealing with players that are flirting with injury such as Slowey and now Harden (against the Twins tonight).

Anyways, it's always a "good dilemma" to have to decide how to deal with a shutout or no-hitter.

Zamboni, you might have forgotten, but gardy did take the twin into the ALCS in his 1st season as manager. So based on your own logic, he has already proven to you that he's a good manager. whistle

Technically, that was a team that was groomed by Kelly, and there were really no roster changes before Gardy took over. They have only had one season since then were they had more wins than the 02 season.

If he were a coach in any other sport, one and dones in many years in the play-offs would mean you would be gone.

He and Anderson are by far the best at handling and developing pitchers and pitching staffs.

Apology expected!

Did I say developing? Pitching DECISIONS. Putting in wrong pitcher, taking guys out too early, letting other guys go too long. No way am I apologizing. EVERY SINGLE PERSON on here at one point in time has questioned at least one of his pitching decisions.

Skunked...In this case I was referring to the no hitter only..."extraordinary" and "special circumstances" were the words I described the pitchers situation. I would not feel the same way about a shut-out through 7 innings.

zamboni,

there is no way that any manager is going to make every pitching decision correctly over the course of one 162 game season, let alone a bunch of seasons. They have soooo much more research than we do, they know how tired a guy is, they know his mental state, they know the opposing batters, etc. We get convenient 20/20 hindsight.

The Twins get great reviews for their handling of their pitching staff. although I dont agree with every decision, for the most part, Gardy does a real good job.

also, to the point of pitchers looking in the dugout after 5 innings hoping to get taken out....are you kidding me? I have never, EVER seen a pitcher look into the dugout with that look on his face. In fact, most of the time, when they get yanked, they have a look that says they did not want to come out. I have also never heard even one quote to that effect. Maybe i have missed it once in awhile, but it is nowhere near the norm.

I agree, I have never ONCE seen a pitcher looking to get taken out of the game. If a pitcher is struggling you may see him looking at the dugout WONDERING if he is going to get jerked but never asking to be pulled.

I know you weren't apologizing to Gardy for calling him a Flippin [PoorWordUsage].

Even though his decision for taking Slowey out was justified 100 percent before during and even more so after Sloweys current stint on the DL.

That's why I Apologized for YOU and excepted the apology on Gardys behalf from YOU!

smile

Hopefully Blackie can continue to pitch well in his absence and slowey can get the arm healed up some what quickly!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
