Treestand Question

HFM

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a treestand blind that I can apply very easily to my 15 foot ladder stand in hopes that it would give me an area to move a little bit with out being seen. From past experiences from hunting on the ground with a portable ground blind I have noticed if the deer are not used to it they are more prone to spook from the blinds presence. What I like most about my ladder stand is even though it is larger than a traditional tree stand I never had problems with it spooking the deer the day I put it in a tree. So my question is will the blind I put around the top of my stand have a positive or negative effect to my hunt?

It's hard to say, the does spook at seeing a mosquito early in the year so I'm thinking it would be somewhat of a concern. Why not just put it up a week ahead of time, give the deer some time to adjust then you shouldn't have to worry about a thing. I don't see it as something to loose sleep over, if any thing some will be alerted to it, stare at it for awhile then go back to feeding.

A huge key to setting up all ground blinds is to brush them in very well. I have moved ground blinds and hunted in them that same evening and with a good amount of brush to break up the outline, you will be in business.

No brushing in of the blind and its a bad deal.
