How far from your stand to your bait ?

How far do you place your stand, blind etc. from your bait? If you use a stand, how high from the ground?

I'm going to place my stand 15 yards from bait and about 12-15 feet high. This should give me a pretty decent bow shot.

Rifle or bow? I normally set up at 15 yards from the bait and 15' - 20' off the ground for my group (I sit on the ground). This is good for rifle or bow. Draw an imaginary line from your weapon to where the exit hole should be on the bear. Depending upon weapon, ammo and size of the bear should give you a pretty good idea. Don't plan on punching through the shoulder of a mature bear without adequate firepower.

i always try for 20yds away and 20ft up to the platform,it has always worked good for me.i only hunt with a bow for big game.

about 20ft up and 15-20 yds away. Had to make a tree work last year and it was about 25yds and 15ft up, but was using the rifle that night.
