Solutions for scratches on clear plastic (GPS) screens?

mr_jman

Question

I got a really good deal on a Lowrance h2oC GPS but the screen does have a few scratches that I would like to try and remove. Anyone have any suggestions...? I've been doing some searching but haven't found much specifically for a screen like this and dont want to ruin it.

My h20 was badly scratched in numerous placed.

I took a old white scok and put some Crest toothpaste on the sock and rubbed it on both lenght ways and sideways and circular.

I would wipe it on, rub pretty hard and then take a clean sock or soft cloth and polish it off. While I sat in my recliner for numerous evenings wacthing TV, I did this for about a half hour for 3-4 evening and it looked as good as new.

Then I would purchase a screen protector for about $10.00 on the big online auction site amd put it on the screen.

With patience, this works very well. I believe one could use most any tooth paste as long as it is not to abrasive.

The toothpaste is a good idea. I've used that on disks and had good results. I used some flitz on my handheld screen and it did ok. If you have the time and patience I think the paste would be a better route. When you're done definitely get a screen protector.

There are a few very good products out that deal with the scuffs and scratches that effect I-Pods, GPS Displays, and phones.

Most cell phone shops or large box stores that deal in lots of pocket gadgets will have these products around.

The ICleaner appears to have the best results and overall reviews of the lot.
