Trolling Swivels

Hello,

My friend and I lost 2 plugs trolling the other day because the swivels decided to open up by themselves. Are there any snap swivels that are designed for pulling plugs specifically or are there any snap swivels that everyone really likes? Thanks.

I've had plenty of cranks lost in the same fashion. I switched to Berkley CrossLok snaps in the really small size. Very minimal distraction for the fish and I have yet to lose a crank for opening in the 3-4 years I've been using them. They are a ***** to open and close though. Takes some getting used to.

I also use Berkley Cross Locks! Best there is! grin

The only problems I've had are 1) Hard to open/close and 2) Eventually some of them do break after being cycled open/closed so many times. But for the $1.50 for 6 of them, I'll take the loss of $.50 a year over the $20 in lost cranks that I was seeing before.

I think to get the best action out of the cranks, I either remove the split ring and use a small snap, or keep the split rings and tie direct.

If I have to use snaps I always use coastlok because they are the best for baits that spiral.( trolling spoons ect)

If I am using cranks that don't spiral I use fastsnaps because they give the bait a great action and I can switch baits at will. plus they are so small they don't add a lot to the presentation.
