Rigging weighted hooks to soft jerkbaits

If I am using a weighted hook for a soft jerkbait it goes like this....

Insert hook into nose of bait to barb.

Turn 90deg and push out the bottom of bait.

Remove hook from bait.

Cut line (if hook is tied on)

Slide eye of hook threw the area of the bait that was just pre-punched with hook end.

Re-tie hook.

Texpose and go.

It is a pain in the wazzoo to use baits like a slug-go or fluke with a weighted hook because there is no good way to get threw the nose of the bait with the lead without damaging the bait to bad to use. And if the bite is hot it makes for a lot of cut and tie. But if there is a need for it, this is the way I do it.

EWG hooks from Gami are my hooks of choise. But sometimes a little lead on the hook makes a big difference.

I use weighted belly hooks with screw at eye. Insert screw into center of nose then lay hook against bait to see where it should go in and out then insert at these spots run all the way through and skin hook point.Im going to try the other types with just a wire and a barb vs screwing into head.

Other wise if using a different type of hook rig the plastic prior to tying onto your line as alot do for tube baits.
