GPS lost power----I think

My bow mount Lowrance X125 was working fine the other day. I was running over some big waves (taking a bit of a pounding) and next thing I know it no longer powers up. I checked/rechecked all connections on back. Any other thoughts. Could the rough water possibly have damaged this thing? Its on a Ram Mount and it never hit the ground, only shaken up a bit.

I just tested it again. It appears I do have power to the unit. When I power it up, there is a very, very slight flicker of light...then nothing..completely dark.

Check the connection at the power end of the wires. It may have come unplugged there, or an inline fuse may have blown out.

Do you have voltmeter, a quick test would tell you a lot.

If the wiring isn't the problem try to reset the unit. I went to Lowrance's site and got the procedure for you.

Soft Reset (does not delete data)

1. Press and hold the PAGES key

2. Press and hold the POWER key

3.Release both keys when the unit powers up

Hard Reset (deletes stored data)

1. Press and hold the ZIN&ZOUT keys at the same time

2. Press and hold the POWER key

3. Release both buttons when the unit beeps

I took the unit and plugged it into my buddies boat. It worked.

So I guess now I've narrowed it down to:

1. Bad cord

2. Blown Fuse

3. Ground fell off or something

I'll work on that tonight.

Start at the pins connecting to the head unit, and fallow the power up the circuit to the puck.

Eliminate one connection at a time, including any fuse links of power switches on the GPS line.

Is it just me or does anybody else lose the GPS signal when they head out the Wisconsin Entry into Lake Superior?

Must be just you because I had to use it a couple of weeks ago to get out when the fog got so thick and never lost it once.

Well...got it figured out. The fuse had a small amount what looked like dust on it...I took some sandpaper to it and cleaned it up...works fine now. Who would have thought such a minor thing would cause such an issue.
