Seasol camper problems

Recommended Posts

If you inadvertently crossed the wires on your battery it may have blown the fuse on for the on board charger. Did that and it took me a bit to find it.

Could also be that your battery is toast and won't hold a charge, found that out the hard way too.

If you have a seasonal site, don't you keep your camper plugged in? Are you saying that you unplug it when you leave and when you come back the battery is already dead? Just curious, why do you unplug it? Don't you keep the fridge running all the time?

What does the furnace do? Does it not light? Did you get all of the air out of the gas line yet? Is the gas turned on?

But if you have it plugged in, you shouldn't even have to have a battery at all. My motor home that I used to have I never even had a battery in it because it always stayed plugged in.

The positive wire should be the one with an inline fuse, so you may be onto something. But who knows, maybe someone added the fuse to the negative wire.

I once hooked up my battery backwards (red and white wires, which goes where?!?). It blew two fuses inside the camper. One for the 12v battery charging system, and a tougher to find one inside our refridge. I won't be making that mistake again.

I pretty sure most need a battery to get 12 volts the 12 volt devices(built in charger keeps battery charged). That being said I am sure they are not all wired the same.

Yeah but there is a converter in there also. My old motorhome ran every 12 volt item off of the converter and it was a '76. I could be wrong but I would doubt that manufacturers would go backwards and now require a battery in order to run the 12 volt system while plugged in to AC.

Ours is a 98 and was overcharging the battery...so I just pulled it out. The converter (if working) converts the 110 to 12 volt with or without a battery in place. Do lights work in camper? They are 12volt and will not work if the converter isn't working. If the lights work, the converter is working and there could be a fuse tripped somewhere.
