Trigger X?

Hi Rainman:

I had the exact same question on another site

My initial experience was excellent. I then tried them the next day with limited success however I was not catching anything on Gulp or live fatheads either.

I was using the 3" Smelt profile. I do plan to buy more...

I have been using the trigger-x for the past couple of years and love it (other than the old/original foil packaging as mentioned above). I used both the leeches and grubs quite a bit last year, and both worked very well. In a very unscientific test with my dad last year, I would say it performed equal to gulp (regular), but I found the trigger-x to be more durable. I used the new minnows quite a bit on the rainy this spring, and again had very good success. One day when the ice first went off the river and the bite was very tough, the white trigger-x minnow was the only thing I was able to put fish in the boat with. When the bite was going good toward the end of the season we had one day where the trigger-x outfished live bait by a 3 or 4 to 1 margin (but the big fish had a preference for live bait). The next day was completely opposite. It isn't a magic bait, but it will continue to have a place in my tackle box (or more importantly, the end of my line).

I have yet to use it but just as snowman678 stated, I have heard good things about it. I mainly use gulp, which has preformed wonderful for me, but I've always thought about trying the trigger-x. I'll have to pick some up this season.

I'm not sure if any other plastics are made this way, but Trigger X baits have a variety of different salt formulations used in different regions of the bait. The tails and paddles generally are softer than the bodies for improved performance. Each of the products have varying salt formulations that effect the fishes response to the feel and taste and also how they perform in the water.

That being said, they aren't magic at all but they do work smile

Both the Gulp and Trigger X are great products. To get more life out of each bait and to keep them from sliding down your hook try the Hitch Series Bait Hitch. It's a small bait keeper that will save you a bunch of money on baits and a lot of frustrations in the boat.
