99 Ranger Vibrating at high speeds

Recommended Posts

Ive got a 99 Ford Ranger 4cyl with very high miles. When I hit speeds around 45mph the vehicle starts to vibrate, by the time I get to 60mph the whole truck is shaking very badly and making a vibrating noise. Any suggestions on what could possibly cause an issue like that? Im debating whether or not its even worth fixing at this point.

Thanks

Musky, mine were a PITA. But it beats paying a mechanic, no offense to any mechanics on here. Easy way to check your ujoints is jack up the rear end, put the tranny in neutral and get under the truck and try to move the driveshaft, if there is any play they need to be replaced.

Sometimes there is no play and they are just dry/rusted/seized. When in doubt it never hurts to pull the shaft and physically move the joints to check for both free movement and for play.

for sure. I just had mine replaced on my 03 Ranger and all was tight but there was one cup that went dry, rusted and the bearings went away.
