Minn Kota is still producing both motors but the Terrova is the newer of the two models.

The Terrova has a redesigned stow and deploy lever for getting the motor in and out of the water. Some people prefer the new design on the Terrova, personally I've used both and have no preference between them.

The Terrova has a redesigned foot pedal, it's larger and has two ways to steer the motor and two ways to turn the motor on momentary power. A lot of guys prefer the new Terrova footpedal but I actually prefer the PowerDrive foot pedal, because it is smaller.

The Terrova is available in more lbs of thrust than the PowerDrive in the 24 volt and bigger motors, but you said you're looking at 12 volt motors and 55 lbs is 55 lbs.

Both motors are i-Pilot compatible so you can add i-Pilot down the road. But you should be aware that if you add the i-Pilot to the PowerDrive motor you will only be able to control the motor with the i-Pilot remote (ie. the foot pedal is no longer an opiton) --- but with the Terrova and i-Pilot you can use both the i-Pilot remote and the Terrova foot pedal.

I hope that helps. You can check them all out HERE for more info.

It looks like you can buy the terrova with Ipilot included from factory for same price as plain old terrova autopilot. So that is a deal right there.

And I find the Terrova a lot easier to stow than my old autopilot (v1). Is the AP cheaper?
